Featured Service: Mediaflo

Mediaflo is the university’s online media management system. Think of it like the YouTube of Texas State. Users may upload, manage, and share video and audio in a variety of ways.

Currently, Mediaflo accounts are restricted to Texas State faculty and staff. While students aren’t issued personal accounts, they have the ability to upload media to a dropbox managed by a faculty or staff member. You don’t have to have an account to view media.

Mediaflo has been utilized in a variety of ways throughout the university. Instructors have created and shared mini-lectures with their classes, staff have added videos in their websites to compliment page information, and videos can be used on personal websites and blogs.

This service has a variety of appealing features:

  • Upload custom thumbnail and preview images
  • Customize your media links
  • Multiple caption options for making your videos accessible
  • Add attachments to videos
  • Annotate specific time points
  • Restrict viewing if you wish. Require users log-in with a Texas State Net ID and password.
  • Create media playlists
  • View video statistics and reports
