Advice for the end of the semester

Advice for the end of the semester

As the end of the semester approaches and the temperature starts to rise, it’s a good time to start preparing for the busiest weeks of your semester. You might be away from Texas State for a few days, weeks, or months, or you might be preparing your cap and gown. At any rate, these three tips will make your transition easier.

  1. Back up your files: I can’t stress enough how important it is to prepare for the worst by saving copies of your most important documents. With tools like Office 365, you can use OneDrive to store your files and access them from your mobile devices or a desktop.
  2. Forward your email: Graduating? Don’t forget to forward your TXST BobcatMail to a personal account, so you don’t miss any important messages.
  3. Find balance on the go: Studying for tests and making time for projects is a top priority for all students, but it’s a good practice to get away from campus for some breathing room. If you make a trip back home, you don’t need to worry about not being able to study or meet for a group project. Office 365 lets you edit documents on the go and simultaneously with others while also auto-saving your progress. If you aren’t able to meet in-person, start a Zoom videoconference to avoid delaying any work in progress.
  4. Express yourself: The semester can be full of little to no time to relax or pick up new hobbies, but don’t let time constraints hold you back from artistic freedom. Expressing yourself can be as easy as using your smartphone camera to take cool portraits of nature, your friends, animals or just about anything. Smartphones are powerful, and they can help your work reach places all over the world. You can even use services like Lynda to learn about photography by watching one of their thousands of video lessons.

College can be a stressful period in your life, but it’s important to take a step back to stay calm. Good luck, Bobcats! I hope these tips can help you finish the semester strong.
