Top 5 Summer Apps for Bobcats

Top 5 Summer Apps for Bobcats

Summer is full of possibilities. For some people it’s all about unwinding, for others it may be about the thrill of spontaneity. Whatever it may be, there’s an app for it. Here are five apps Bobcats can use to amplify their summer:

Spotify

Spotify logoMusic is a must — you can’t have a road trip without a playlist! Even if you’re not planning a road trip, making a Summer ’19 playlist is a great way to save all your summer bangers. Creating a seasonal playlist is the modern-day memory box. Listening to all your summer anthems months or even years later will always take you back to that moment in time where you had those songs on repeat. Not about taking the time to curate your playlist? No worries, Texas State has a curated playlist on Spotify!

Streaming Apps

Netflix LogoAfter a long school year all students want to do is relax and binge watch their favorite series without the lingering stress of due dates. We couldn’t decide between Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, or HBO, as they all have their coveted series. If the person you were sharing Netflix accounts changed their password and you can no longer access it, don’t fret, head on over to Alkek Library for some free movie options!

Stitcher

StitcherStitcher is a great Podcast app available for both iOS and Android. Podcasts have quickly grown in popularity. You can listen to them in the shower, on the road, or on a walk. The great thing about podcasts is there are broad genres meeting everyone’s needs. There’s humor, true crime, even education for those trying to stay sharp all summer! Here are some of my favorite technology podcasts: Clockwise, Rocket, Accidental Tech Podcast.

AllTrails

AllTrailsThe next app is for those adventurous at heart! AllTrails is an app featuring over 75,000 hiking, running, and biking trail maps, reviews, and crowdsourced photos from hikers, trails runners, and mountain bikers. Think of it as the Yelp for outdoors. You can filter trails near you by length, difficulty, suitability — such as dog and kid friendly, and point of interests such as lakes, rivers, wildflowers, hot springs and much more.

Bandsintown

Bandsintown LogoConsidering we are so close to the “Live Music Capital of the World,” having an app to help you explore live music possibilities is a must for self-proclaimed music fanatics. Bandsintown is available for iOS, Android, or on the web! It filters events through genres of music, so it is much easier to see the shows that you’re interested in. When you first make an account, it will ask you questions so it can personalize and prioritize events to your liking. Another unique feature is the ability to set alerts for your all-time favorite artists. Bandsintown will notify you when the artist announces their tour, so you will be among the first to know making it easier for you to secure those tickets!
