Becoming an “IT Insider”

Becoming an “IT Insider”

Do you ever wonder what changes are being planned to technology services or the university libraries? If so, I invite you to check out the Division of Information Technology (DOIT) milestones located on our website. The milestones represent key dates that are often associated with high-impact projects or releases that are in the works within the division. For example, do you know what date the new Learning Management System (Canvas) will be open for production use?

You can find out on our milestone site at https://doit.txstate.edu/About/Office-of-the-Vice-President/milestones.html. My goal with this site is to keep the campus community apprised of our many projects and activities, and by occasionally reviewing it, you could probably consider yourself an “IT Insider.”

The milestones webpage was recently revamped to make it more user friendly. Clicking on the project title takes you to a page with more explanation of the project, expected completion date, and responsible unit. There is a lot of work that goes into operating and maintaining the systems and resources we use on campus every day, so I hope you find this information helpful for your own planning or knowledge.
