Bobcats learn great fundamental skills while earning their degrees, but there is always something they can do to supplement their skills and become a top candidate when job searching. That’s where LinkedIn Learning comes in.
LinkedIn Learning is an online learning system focused on video lessons taught by industry experts. The best part? It’s free for Bobcats. LinkedIn Learning is a great tool to improve skills needed in your field of study, or to pursue a new interest. There are over 15,000 online courses: Photoshop, coding, time management, guitar lessons, and so much more.
We did some research to find the skills companies are searching for the most. Topping the list are cloud computing, followed by artificial intelligence, analytical reasoning, people management, and UX design. There are courses for all of those skills on LinkedIn Learning. See the complete list, which includes both soft and hard skills.
In addition, LinkedIn Learning provides Learning Paths, a series of combined courses for a specific career. For example, “Become a Social Media Advertising Specialist” includes courses such as: social media marketing foundations, advanced branding, integrated marketing strategies, and more.
One of the biggest benefits to LinkedIn Learning is that once a course or learning path is completed successfully, you earn a certificate. You can then link your certificates to your personal LinkedIn account to share with the world. Students hear throughout our four years at Texas State that we should open a LinkedIn account and that it should always be up-to-date. It’s the workforce’s networking profile. Recruiters turn to LinkedIn as their first step to researching a candidate. If they see your certifications they’ll be more inclined to call you in for an interview compared to someone who doesn’t have any certifications.
