Graduating? Your IT checklist

Graduating? Your IT checklist

Another academic year has come to a close. Congratulations to all those graduating! While you will forever be a Bobcat, there are some IT things you need to complete before you embark on the next stage of your life. Here is your IT to-do checklist:

Download files from Canvas

Probably the most time-sensitive item on our list, make sure you download all of the documents you need from Canvas before the sites are closed and rolled out for the summer semesters. Once these sites have been closed, you won’t have access to your class documents or assignment files anymore.

Download OneDrive files

Same intention as the first item on our checklist, however with some good news. Graduates still have access to their Net ID and email for approximately one year after graduation. While you have some time, it is a good idea to go ahead and download your OneDrive files to get this out of the way and back up necessary files on a hard drive.

Email forwarding

Email Forward service is offered to Texas State University graduates who have no active affiliation with Texas State. This service forwards mail sent to your BobcatMail address to another external email address that you define, so you’ll feel assured knowing you’ll never miss an email!

LinkedIn Learning Access

We know that you have worked hard for the last few years and accumulated a lot of knowledge, but being a forever student is a valuable skill that will last your whole career. Luckily after graduation, since your Net ID is still active for approximately one year, you will still have access to LinkedIn Learning courses! Stand out from the rest and add some certificates to your LinkedIn resume.

Keep your computer protected

Make sure that your personal computer stays safe by downloading anti-virus protection. There is Microsoft Anti-Virus Protection available for Windows computers and McAfee Endpoint Security available for Mac computers.
