Canvas training, training, and even more training!
As you continue to get ready for using Canvas this fall, we have added more dates, times, and titles to our extensive training offerings. Here are a few highlights:
- TXST and Turnitn have partnered to bring Using Turnitin through Canvas virtually to you this Wednesday, July 29. In this free session, learn how to incorporate Turnitin into your Canvas courses. Register today and save your seat in this one-time class.
- Camp Canvas is back for more fun, Aug. 11 – 13. See the full schedule. During Camp Canvas, you will learn not only how to use Canvas tools but also how to incorporate key pedagogical concepts to enhance your teaching and student learning experiences.
- Also see all Canvas-related classes being taught. Dates range from this week into the fall semester.
Per-course notifications are here
We’ve been waiting for this one! Canvas has released per-course notifications, meaning you can set notifications on specific courses. For instance, if you’d like to receive content page updates from one course but not from all courses, simply set the per-course notifications accordingly. Here’s how. It will be a notification life-changer. Promise!
Direct Share from instructor to instructor now available
In a recent Canvas release, course instructors now have the ability to directly share a page from their course to another Canvas instructor. Instead of having to share in Commons or export your course, now, you can simply use Direct Share. You can also use Direct Share to copy an individual page into another course. When you share a page, all components of that page (images, files, links) will be included in the shared file.
Sharing to Canvas Commons – A reminder
Instructors are allowed to share course content to Canvas Commons, a learning object repository where you can share and also import course content created by others and use as your own. This is a great way to display and spread great work you are doing related to course topics and interesting ways you are fully taking advantage of tools within Canvas. You can share so all others at TXST can use your content. You can also import courses from anyone in the overall Canvas Community, even those from other institutions. When you share, even TXST students can see your content. If your share includes quizzes and assessments, all at TXST can see that too. So, if you have already shared in Commons, please review your content and remove all tests and assessments. If you are planning to share in Commons, be sure to remove tests or assessments before you share.
