Your soon-to-be favorite TXST Mobile features

Your soon-to-be favorite TXST Mobile features

At this point, you’ve probably poked around in the TXST Mobile app and used a few of its features. Of course, every feature is important, but I’m here to share my favorites and the ones I’ve found the most useful in my 4 years at Texas State.

TRACS and Canvas links

I have used these links like crazy this semester! Having classes remotely means that all the information I need is on TRACS and Canvas, so being able to access both tools from inside the TXST Mobile app has been very convenient for me. Since iOS 14 was released, I’ve hidden my Canvas and TRACS apps and just open them from the TXST Mobile app instead.

Dining

Let’s be honest, we all care about food more than anything else on campus. If you want to make sure wherever you want to eat on campus is actually open (due to changing hours because of COVID) before hiking across campus, this feature will easily be your favorite.

My TXST

This feature was honestly my lifesaver when classes were on campus, especially during the first week of classes. If you’re anything like me, remembering what classroom you’re in for your class during that first week was nearly impossible. And we’ve all had the walking into the wrong classroom nightmare. This feature gives you the ability to see a nice compact list of your courses, their times, and their locations. You can also access you billing and see if you have any holds through this feature. Unfortunately, you’ll still have to navigate the confusing halls of the building, but at least you’ll know which room you’re supposed to go to!

Shuttle

This is actually my favorite feature on the whole app (shhh don’t tell the others). Since I live on campus and my classes are constantly at opposite ends of campus, using the shuttles has saved me lots of sweat. With live tracking, I don’t have to stand out at the shuttle stop battling the elements waiting for the shuttle. I just leave my apartment when it’s a couple minutes away. The app will also remember what routes you’ve selected in the past so it’ll automatically open that route the next time to launch the app. Inside the shuttle feature, there’s also a map of campus where you can search a building on campus, and it’ll show you where it is. This feature is less helpful to upperclassmen since they know the ins and outs of school like the back of their hand, but when I was newer to campus, I used it constantly to make sure I wasn’t walking up hills if I didn’t need to be.

Don’t forget you can customize your menu screen to show the features you use the most for easier access. The DOIT Services website has download links for both iOS and Android or you can search “TXST Mobile” in your app store. As always, if you have any problems you can contact ITAC.
