Equal access to digital information is more than a legal requirement; it’s the right thing to do. Ensuring accessibility, though, can be a complex task. To make doing the right thing a little easier, Level Access, in collaboration with the Texas Department of Information, has launched an improved self-paced accessibility learning platform.
Access Academy
Access Academy is an interactive accessibility training resource offered free to all State of Texas employees. Formerly known as Access University, the new platform boasts an enhanced user interface and personalized instruction. Improvements include:
- Self-paced video learning.
- Guided training roadmaps.
- Microlearning modules.
- Badges and certifications.
Your personal accessibility coach
Access Academy delivers personalized coaching on topics relevant to you, such as:
- The basics of digital accessibility.
- Writing meaningful alt text.
- Creating accessible documents using Microsoft Word, MS PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Composing emails with accessibility in mind.
- Communicating accessibly with remote audiences.
The platform also provides guidance related to the State of Texas Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT), Vendor Accessibility Development Services Information Request (VADSIR) Questionnaire, and Policy-Driven Adoption for Accessibility (PDAA) forms.
