TXST Mobile is your guide to commencement

It’s the end of the fall semester, which means many Bobcats are ready to celebrate that special moment graduation. The TXST Mobile app is your source for this semester’s in-person and virtual commencement ceremonies. Support your favorite graduate by watching them live, or get important information if you plan to attend in-person. It’s all in the app!

In-person commencement

Socially distanced ceremonies are being held on Thursday, for spring and summer graduates, and on Friday for fall graduates at Bobcat Stadium. The commencement feature in the app is a great place to get information if you will be there. Use the app to see:

  • Directions and parking
  • Schedules
  • Seating
  • Instructions for candidates
  • Program overview

Candidates are limited to four guest tickets this year that they had to reserve, but that doesn’t mean additional friends and family can’t participate in that special moment. The ceremonies will be livestreamed, which you can also watch in the app. Share it with your friends and family!

Virtual commencement

Graduates, friends, and family can also participate in the ceremony virtually on the TXST Mobile app. With this new feature, you can go to the commencement tab, and search for your graduate’s college and can view ceremony videos of their college’s dean, the dean of the Honors College, as well as playable name slides that are searchable by graduation semester, degree, or name. You also have the ability to download the slides as a keepsake or to share on social media.

A virtual commencement ceremony for all fall 2020 graduates will also be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12. The main commencement ceremony video with degree conferral and other traditional ceremony elements will be livestreamed. You can watch through the TXST Mobile app to participate.

Make virtual commencement memorable

There are some things you can do to make your virtual ceremony memorable if you are graduating, but chose not to participate in the in-person ceremony.

  • Schedule a virtual watch party with your friends and family! Let them know about the TXST Mobile app. It can be used to access the livestream and commencement program. They can also watch here: https://www.txstate.edu/commencement
  • Follow along in the app during the virtual ceremony and participate in the time honored traditions such as standing upon degree conferral, tassel and/or ring turning, cap throwing, and the Heart of Texas State hand sign during the Alma Mater.
  • Each graduate gets a slide with a photo that they can customize for the virtual commencement.
  • Social media is just an app away on your phone, if you’re following along through TXST Mobile. Think about also sharing your moment on social. Share photos with the tags #TXSTgrad #TXST20 and #TXST

Don’t have the TXST Mobile app? Learn more about it, and download it for iOS or Android.

Congratulations to all of the graduating Bobcats! Although you’re graduating during unprecedented times, your strength and perseverance cannot be ignored.
