Tech tips to start your summer stress free

Tech tips to start your summer stress free

The countdown to summer break has begun! In just days, the Spring 2022 semester will be a distant memory. But before you toss the calendar and close your laptop for the next three months, complete these easy tasks to save future time and stress.

1: Be a file saver

You’ve worked hard all semester, and you have the files to show for it! Don’t risk losing a single page. Save and organize any course materials, resources, assignments, and projects you want to keep. For tips on managing and sharing files, visit the IT Assistance Center File & Data Storage and Sharing page.

2: Pad your portfolio

Choose work products from each class to highlight your accomplishments. Portfolios aren’t just for artists! In every academic discipline and career field, saving artifacts is best practice. Your essays, projects, presentations, and even short answer responses can be useful resources. When seeking recommendations, or applying for scholarships, internships, and employment, reflecting on work you’ve created can offer inspiration and direction. Remember to store your files locally to ensure continued access.

3: Cultivate connections

Before you go off the grid, use LinkedIn to solidify those personal connections you made this semester. Classmates, study buddies, teammates, tutors, and instructors will be thrilled to hear from you again, and those contacts can support your future endeavors. Don’t have a profile yet? You can create a LinkedIn account for free. The platform offers plenty of support to guide you. To see what LinkedIn Learning offers continuing Bobcats, student AnaBelle Elliott shares valuable information in her recent LinkedIn Learning: The game changer for students inside and outside the classroom blog post.

Let the countdown begin

Summer break is just days away, but there’s still some work to do. While you declutter closets and clean out the fridge, take time to tidy up your tech and reward yourself with the stress-free summer you’ve earned!
