Tech tips for graduates

It’s almost that time, Bobcats! Soon you’ll be walking across that stage and into a new chapter of your lives. While this is an exciting time, it is important to keep in mind the changes that will take place after Commencement Day. One year after your graduation, your NetID will expire and your email will no longer exist. You will also lose access to Texas State resources following graduation, so here’s a list of important reminders to keep in mind following Commencement Day 2023.

  • You will lose access to Microsoft 365 one year after your graduation. Any documents, contacts, and emails saved to your TXST Microsoft 365 account will be lost and you will not be able to access them. It is important to move any files saved in your OneDrive to another location. While a year may sound like a long time, it is recommended that you move everything over sooner than later.
  • After one year, your NetID will expire and your email address will no longer exist. Remember to set an email forward. This ensures you’ll continue to receive emails sent to your Texas State email address after graduation. ITAC’s Email Forward for Graduated Students page details the steps you need to take.
  • After graduation, you’ll no longer have access to ITAC. Take advantage of ITAC services and bring your laptop in for free virus removal. It’s important to make sure your laptop is in good health before you leave Texas State.

Congratulations graduates! We know you’ll leave the university and accomplish great things! We know you’re prepared because you took care of moving everything off your OneDrive and transferred files connected to your Texas State email. Congratulations and good luck!
