Remote Learning: Tools and Services

Remote Learning: Tools and Services

Transitioning to online classes can seem like a daunting task, but ITAC is here to help make this an easy, smooth process. We have plenty of services and resources available for your use at any time, but as a student that’s been working remotely, I recommend getting your personal device prepped as soon as you can.

Today, I’m going to focus on getting fellow students familiarized with the tools that are just a click away from being yours! Let’s get started with some of the main features you’ll be needing for the next few weeks:

  • Before downloading anything, make sure your devices are running their latest operating system. This just means you need to update your system to help your remote learning experience run smoothly.
  • Similarly to the step above, you want to wipe any viruseon your Windows or Mac that could slow your device down in the process of online classes. Feel free to contact our 24/7 call center for assistance with this step as it can be tricky to decipher what the problem is.

Now let’s get to the good part:

  • First and foremost, take advantage of Office 365 being free and readily available for download.
  • Microsoft OneDrive will be key for anyone using public devices for schoolwork. You can easily save anything made with Office 365 software into the cloud, ensuring access to your work anywhere, anytime.
  • I’m sure you’re familiar with the online meeting program Zoom. This platform will be widely used among professors during this time of remote classes, so it’s best to have this downloaded as soon as possible so you have time to try it out.
  • Last but not least make sure you have TRACSCanvas, and TXST Mobile set up on your smart device so you’re in loop wherever you are.

I know the next few weeks will be a journey for all of us, but we’re in it together and there are resources at your disposal to help better your transition into remote learning. ITAC is here to help you through this transition and remain Texas State strong.
