Key to crushing online classes

Key to crushing online classes

There’s no denying that we’re all living through a particularly difficult time right now. Sticking together and giving guidance to kick off the fall semester with a positive and productive start will get our Bobcats through the uncertainty we’re headed into.

I’ve heard a lot from student peers about their general anxiety regarding the plan for our fall classes. One thing is for sure; ITAC will help ensure you have the necessary resources to succeed, no matter the format of your courses.

Today I’ll be kick starting that reassurance with some pro tips on how to absolutely crush your online and hybrid courses!

The first major key to staying on top of your course load is keep up with a daily routine. You may hear this quite often, but few people genuinely take it into consideration. Getting a good amount of sleep, staying productive, and managing your time will drastically help your performance in school even if you’re not on campus. Check out the previous blog post by ITAC student worker Faith Franke as she goes into more detail on creating and staying on a healthy routine.

Staying organized is harder than people make it seem, but it’s critical to a consistent, positive performance in learning and working remotely. That’s why our second pro tip focuses on keeping up with a calendar or planner! Having your school schedule in a customizable and easily accessible place is important for staying on task when working by yourself. With plenty of options for digital calendars, it may be overwhelming trying to find the best fit for you. Y’all should be familiar with Outlook thanks to BobcatMail, but have you taken advantage of the calendar feature? Having your class schedule right next to your school email ensures you have everything important all in one place. With an easily customizable interface and notifications, you’ll never miss a deadline or Zoom meeting again!

Lastly, I want to highlight our need to not only check up on one another, but check up on yourself. Make sure you’re in the right headspace before diving into work. It’s common to be in over your head with stress and responsibilities right now, but take a step back and reward yourself for making it this far! When we’re heading into the fall semester, no matter what format your classes are in, ensure you have time to unwind after tackling all your school work.

That’s all the online pro tips we’ve got for you today, but keep your eyes peeled for daily resources and updates on ITAC’s social media pages! Follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Stay safe, Bobcats.
