I need a quiet space for online meetings, but…

¡Hola! Welcome to our second installment of a series of posts about Microsoft 365. Not only will this series help you stay on top of all things Microsoft 365, but it will also make you a star among your colleagues. You will impress them with all this useful information aimed at making your digital life more productive and enjoyable.

It has been a year since we started marching into this new work life. We now, more than ever, endeavor to catch an online meeting anywhere we are–a lot of us at home but some others on the road. Finding a place where we can have some peace and quiet is sometimes challenging. When I work from our small house, I sometimes have to compete with my wife, who teaches ballet and Parkinson’s movement classes at a distance. Plus, now that we have a dog, things are even noisier. I know people who conduct meetings from the bathroom or a small room off their kitchen. Having meetings in noisy environments is a challenge.

Thankfully, artificial intelligence comes to the rescue one more time. In the series of ongoing improvements to the Microsoft Teams meeting and collaboration environment, Microsoft has added a new feature that intelligently suppresses background noise. Users can enable this helpful new feature by adjusting their device settings before their call or meeting and selecting High in the Noise suppression drop-down (note this feature is currently only supported in the Teams Windows desktop client).

See this support article for details about how to enable this feature: https://aka.ms/noisesuppression
