To continually improve Canvas, Instructure, the parent company of Canvas, releases Canvas upgrades every third Saturday of the month, along with Release Notes. Here is a summary of pertinent changes integrated this month.

Notifications
SMS Notifications for Announcements and Grading have been removed from Canvas. Additionally, the SMS column has been removed from the Notifications page. If you are using SMS notifications in your course, you may need to consider other ways of communicating with your students.
Notifications are located under your account.
Maintenance Windows
To better manage required maintenance across all customer instances, regular maintenance windows will be implemented. Most maintenance windows will take place sometime between the hours of 12:05 am and 4:05 am local time on the first and third Thursdays of each month. Planned maintenance windows help to lessen the need for emergency maintenance.

Coming this semester, the IT Assistance Center (ITAC) will have some new training, including training on the New Quizzes tool and Mastery Paths, as well as continuing to provide our fan favorites: Canvas Basics, Communication and Collaboration, and more!
Take your Canvas skills up a notch with an ITAC training course. You can attend an online ITAC class, take advantage of on-demand training created by Canvas experts, or go through self-paced learning modules right inside Canvas. Our all-encompassing training offerings are continually updated with additional dates, times, and titles.
