Spring 2020 is coming to a close, and summer break is around the corner enticing us with its warmer weather. Here are five things you can do over summer break until we meet again in the fall:
Stay fit at home
Our wonderful Rec Center has been offering home workouts via Zoom, you can join live or watch recorded videos on your own time. There are many great options to choose from like yoga, barre, HIIT, or full-body workouts, you’ll be breaking a sweat and getting endorphins.
Get creative with Adobe Creative Suite
Great news! Adobe has extended access for students to July 6. You have an array of programs at your fingertips like Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and more. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to tap into your creative side and hone in on a new skill.
Take a course on LinkedIn Learning
Speaking of skills, LinkedIn is always available to all students to perfect an old skill or to try and learn something completely new. Pair this with your access to the Adobe Creative Suite and become an expert by the end of summer. I personally will be tuning in to AfterEffects courses to learn how to animate some of my designs.
Stream movies
Texas State University Libraries has a streaming library available just by logging in with your Net ID. They have several classics like Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Oscar-winning movies like Moonlight. Even one of my personal favorites, Amelie, is available for immediate viewing. If you’re in need of some company, I would suggest having a virtual viewing party via zoom with some friends.
Take a virtual tour
The great outdoors is not canceled, and I would highly suggest getting some Vitamin D by going for a walk or jog outside, but if leaving your house isn’t an option there are still opportunities to explore. Thankfully, many virtual tours have become available, you can take a peek at the San Diego zoo animals, virtually tour Yellowstone’s main attractions, even step inside Machu Picchu with Google Earth. If touring museums are more your thing, you can take virtual tours of the Louvre, the Guggenheim, and the Van Gogh museum.
