Student tech tips to jump-start spring

Student tech tips to jump-start spring

Spring semester is here! I wanted to remind students that you have access to many tech services and products to help you succeed. The Division of Information Technology provides Bobcats with the technologies for both in-person and online courses. Check out some of the services available to you.

Tech services

There are many products and services available to Bobcats for free. Some of these include the Microsoft 365 suite, which has Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and OneDrive. Check out the DOIT Services website to start your search.

Remote learning tech resources

Many students this semester are taking at least one class that meets virtually. The Division of Information Technology and IT Assistance Center support many tech services that will help you connect with classmates, faculty, and staff remotely. Check out the remote learning resources available to you.

TXST Mobile app

The Texas State Mobile app’s most recent release last month added a new computer lab availability feature. Use it to find a computer near you, view lab capacity information, see hours, and more.

The app is a great way to stay connected to all things going on at Texas State. It provides easy access to your courses, BobcatMail, bus routes and times, dining options and more. If you don’t already have it downloaded, it’s available in the Apple App Store and in the Google Play Store. Learn more about the app and download it!

University Libraries

There are lots of library services and resources available for remote use, and librarians are available via phone, email, or chat to help. Be sure to check out the Remote Services library guide to see everything available.

If you’re on campus this semester, remember the first floor of Alkek Library has been completely renovated into a technological hub known as Alkek One. There’s many great new spaces and technology such as the GeoSpace, DesignSpace, MakerSpace, Immersion Studion, and all-new YouStar Studios that include two video recording studios, two audio recording studios, and a production studio complete with soundboards and musical equipment. Learn more about Alkek One.

University Libraries also asks for your participation in efforts to keep everyone safe, such as wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing. See the University Libraries COVID-19 Service Plan for more information.

IT Assistance Center (ITAC)

You can always count on ITAC to have your back if you experience technical issues, can’t find the software that you need, or are just unsure how to use a Texas State tool. You can contact them via email, phone, LiveChat, or pay them a visit at their new home on the first floor of the Alkek Library. See ITAC’s hours and contact information.

Good luck with your spring semester, Bobcats!
