“There are multiple ways to create structure using Modules.”

For Ludmila Krylova, using Canvas motivates her to think seriously about her students’ needs. Krylova, a lecturer in the Department of Accounting, said putting herself in her students’ shoes is how she guarantees she uses the most beneficial teaching components.

In Modules, Krylova arranges her courses to have collapsible menus to ensure she can fit all her content on a single page without it appearing complicated. Having a single location also makes it easy for her students to find and access the materials they need for their assignments.

The lecturer likes how easy it is to share quizzes, exams, and assignments with her colleagues through Canvas. Sharing content is helpful when multiple instructors teach the same courses. It helps to duplicate courses that will be conducted again in the following semester. Instructors become free to focus on course learning objectives and student progress.

She offers a few tips for using Canvas:

  • Make sure students have Canvas notifications turned on, or they won’t get your messages.
  • Utilize your resources for building or improving your course sites.
  • Discussions are an excellent way to connect with students and build a sense of community.

Krylova has more Canvas tips to share. Watch her Canvas Champions video interview to learn more.
