Visit the Alkek One Student Gallery

The Alkek One Student Gallery is on display on the Albert B. Alkek Library’s first floor at Texas State’s San Marcos campus. The gallery consists of eight talented students’ work, ranging from photography to painting to video. The exhibit is very bright, colorful, and visually intriguing with a common theme.

The exhibit is part of the Common Experience. The Common Experience is a yearly theme hosted by Texas State, including a series of connected events. This year’s theme is “Dynamics,” which involves joining forces and motion to create growth or change.

The Alkek One Student Gallery also has a theme called “Women in Tech or People of Color in Technology.” The artists come from various majors, but all came together to be part of the few students selected for the exhibit. All Bobcats are encouraged to visit to see the unique views and talents these students have! One of my favorite pieces is a photography piece by Kianna Burtle, which brings to light a very realistic view of what it is like to be a woman.

Make sure to stay updated on the University Libraries website to know when fall 2021 applications are open for a chance to be featured as well! Wind down and explore fellow Bobcat artwork on the first floor at Alkek Library.
